Winter Break begins at the end of the day on Friday, December 20. Students will return to school on Monday, January 6, 2025.
We wish everyone a safe, happy, and restful holiday season.
Our 8th-grade science students recently demonstrated their critical thinking and communication skills by engaging in a national energy debate. They tackled local and national energy issues, exploring renewable resources, environmental impacts, and economic considerations. The debate allowed students to evaluate diverse perspectives and propose solutions that balance scientific innovation with community needs. Their enthusiasm and informed discussions showed how science education connects to real-world challenges!
A special morning with our amazing Transportation Team!
We had the joy of treating our dedicated bus drivers, courier, and transportation staff to breakfast today as a small token of our immense gratitude. Our drivers do so much more than just transport our students - they're the first smile our kids see in the morning and the last wave goodbye in the afternoon.
To our transportation heroes: Thank you for your commitment to safety, your endless patience, and the dedication you show to WPPS every single day. You truly make a difference!
Did you know? Many teens who vape report difficulty focusing in school, increased irritability and struggles with managing emotions.
These challenges are linked to the effects of nicotine on the brain. Protect your mental clarity and take control of your future—choose to stay vape-free and thrive!
Congratulations to Kate Howard on being selected as a Virginia Senate Page!
This is an incredible opportunity to learn about state government, witness the legislative process up close, and serve our West Point community. Your hard work and dedication have earned you this amazing experience and we are so proud of you and can't wait to see the incredible things you'll accomplish!
Wishing you an inspiring and memorable time as a Senate Page. Keep learning, growing, and making a difference!
Mrs. Tate's 8th-grade class conducted a fun and educational s'mores lab to explore different methods of heat transfer. Students experimented with conduction, convection, and radiation to determine which method melted marshmallows and chocolate most effectively. They analyzed their results, discussed the science behind heat transfer, and, of course, enjoyed their delicious s'mores! This hands-on activity combined learning with holiday cheer, making science both tasty and memorable.
On Tuesday, Ms. Wayland’s kindergarten students enjoyed hearing a holiday story read aloud. What a treat to have a former student read to our class!

Vaping is not the harmless habit it’s made out to be!
Flavored e-cigarettes might seem appealing, but the sweet flavors can mask the serious damage they cause to your lungs. Over time, vaping can lead to breathing difficulties and long-term health issues. Choose your health and make the commitment to live vape-free!
At WPPS, we believe that every day in the classroom is an opportunity for students to grow, learn, and succeed. Regular attendance is key to academic achievement, social development, and building lasting friendships.
Let's work together to ensure our students are present and ready to thrive!
Think you know the risks of vaping?
It’s not just about nicotine addiction—vaping can weaken your immune system, making it harder for your body to fight off illnesses like colds and respiratory infections. Protect your health and your future by saying no to vaping!
Happy Computer Science Education Week!
Let’s celebrate the educators, students, and programs making a difference through computer science. Together, we’re building a bright future!
