Dear WPPS Community,

Recently,  the West Point Public Schools agreed to a settlement with former teacher Peter Vlaming. This is a case that has received some regional and national attention in the media, and we are pleased to be able to reach a resolution that will not have a negative impact on the students, staff or school community of West Point.

As we move forward, WPPS will continue to be a place where all students feel safe, respected, and welcomed on a daily basis. Our focus is on all students, and our goal is to continue to build positive relationships throughout our school division community. We will remain pointed in the right direction as we ensure our students have access to an exceptional educational experience, no matter what.

In fact, this is a key component of our 2023-2028 Strategic Plan. Specifically, Goal #2 focuses on Student & Staff Wellbeing: To promote and nurture a culture of safety, security, and overall wellness for students, staff, families, and the West Point community.

Ultimately, we remain committed to being the number one school division in our region. We appreciate the engagement of our entire community as we make this happen. Thank you so much for your support.

Sincerely,

Dr. Larry L. Frazier, Jr.

Superintendent
