We are so thankful for the support of our West Point students, staff, and community. Over the last two weeks, students brought in over 2,000 pounds of canned goods to be donated to families in need for the Thanksgiving Holiday. While the students provided the canned goods, the West Point Rotary Club graciously donated 12 turkeys to the cause. Thank you to all of those that made this happen, especially Kaylee Powell, WPMS/HS School Counselor, who coordinated all of these efforts. Have a great Thanksgiving!

WPPS held their annual International Potluck Thursday night. This yearâs theme âFriendsgivingâ was a wonderful expression of all the wonderful families and friends that came to dinner to share foods that represent their cultures! Lots of different dishes to try and company to enjoy! Thank you to all our families that came to share with us!

To finish up their graphing unit, Mrs. Gowersâ first grade tried different types of Thanksgiving pies. They then created a picture graph on a pocket chart that they then used to tally and create a bar graph! The kids said this was the yummiest math lesson!

Today in Mrs. Manley's 5th grade reading classroom, they were getting ready for the Thanksgiving/Fall season. In order to understand the difference between facts and opinions, they tried different holiday pies and wrote down how they felt, and what was true on a piece of paper. Every piece of pie was gone and every student walked away knowing the difference between facts and opinions. What a fun way to kick off the upcoming break!
Also, big shoutout to our own Stevella Brown in Mrs. Propst's class! She baked her own Bundt Cake for her peers to try for this activity. It was absolutely delicious!

First Graders at WPES wrapped up their unit on Jamestown and the Powhatan Tribe with a field trip to Jamestown Settlement. Students got to have hands-on experiences that Powhatan children would have done, as well as, learned about sailing from England on the ships. The guides complimented the children on their knowledge and the great questions they asked! Fun day of experiences was had by all!
